Painted Crane
This male Sandhill Crane was foraging right beside me in a marsh near Homer, AK. The reddish coloration of his feathers was the result of him dabbing reddish (iron laden) mud all over his back and wings. It's a common behavior in Sandhills, but it's uncertain why they do it.
