Black Turnstone feeding in a pile of wrack
Black Turnstones spend much of the tidal cycle feeding in the rocky intertidal. But especially on days of very high tides, they sometimes go to nearby sandy beaches at high tide and pick at invertebrates in piles of algae that the tides have deposited on the shore.
