More beach chaos
These Sanderling ran down the wave washed zone as a wave receded searching frantically for Emerita analoga, sand crabs. Then... whoops, the next wave washed in and forced them to take flight to avoid being drowned.
This what they do. Every incoming and outgoing wave. Every incoming and outgoing tide. What a frantic uncertain life.
The adaptation of Sanderling to the wave-washed zone and an energy economy based up Emerita analoga is a miracle of evolution. If you believe in miracles. Or a natural consequence of natural selection over millennia.
They are supremely adapted to this life.
