Flying toward the top of the wave-washed zone
Constant motion on the beach. As the last wave starts to recede, Sanderling begin running down, probing as they go, in pursuit of Emerita analoga. The wave reaches the bottom, and a new once crashes in. Sanderling react quickly by retreating up the beach, running if the next wave is small, flying if it is big and fast and threatens to swamp them.
