Black-bellied Plover standing beside a patch of Emerita analoga
The patch of Emerita is visible to the right of the Black-bellied Plover. Each one of those ripples is a large Emerita mostly but not completely buried in the sand. The ripples are actually the frond-like antennae of crabs filter feeding as the wave recedes.
