Gull vs Raven
Things die on the beach like this Western Grebe. And then the battle begins. Here is a Common Raven challenging a young Glaucous-winged Gull over possession of the grebe. The next photograph establishes who won.
Because the ocean deposits bodies on the beach, of grebes, of seals, of clams and crabs, and of birds like fulmars, part of the beach drama is over who gets to eat what.
